Meghan is a certified equine and canine massage therapist. Therapeutic massage is used  to help balance and stabilize muscle issues. She is available for demonstrations and clinics.

Meghan learned the ancient art of Tui' Na pronounced "toowee na" massage a Traditional Chinese Method or "TCM" under the careful tutelage of Tui'Na instructor Coreen Kelly of the "Western Montana School of Equine Massage" (WMSEM).  Coreen was choosen as Meghans instructor after a long search through all the usual equine massage schools on the east coast largely in part because Coreen is legally blind!!! It was later learned that this amazing woman would "teach" us to feel with our hands and not feel with our eyes, to become more in tune with our sense of "feeling. Enrolling in this amazing unique school with a one of a kind instructor, proved to be a life changing experience for Meghan. Everything in her life shifted and took a completely different fork in the road.

Practicing for over 6 years now Meghan is the leading expert in the ancient art of mixing Equine accupressure and massage in the form of Tui'Na in New England!

Tui'Na means to "push" and "grasp" in Chinese. Physically, it is a series of pressing, tapping, and kneading that removes blockages along the meridians of the body and stimulates the flow of Qi and blood to promote healing. Like accupunture, Tui'Na works with the Qi energy of the horse to bring a balanced state of health.  Tui'Na methods include the use of hand techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles & tendons) of the body, acupressure techniques to directly affect the flow of Qi, and manipulation techniques to realign the musculoskeletal and ligamentous relationships.

Tui'Na dates back to the Shang Dynasty of China, 1700 B.C.E. Oracle bones show that Tui'Na massage was used to treat children's diseases and digestive complaints in adults. By 600 C.E Tui'Na was included in the Imperial Medical College as a department of its own. Tui'Na flourished throughout China until the Qing Dynasty where it was suppresed along with other Chinese cultural arts. Following the Communist revolution,  Tui'Na was restored along with other traditional medical arts and was included in the creation of the current system of Traditional Chinese Colleges.

Tui' Na is  well suited for the aid in specific musculoskeletal disorders. One of Tui Na's advantages over simple massage is its ability to focus on specific problems, especially chronic pain associated with the muscles, joints, and skeletal system. It's especially effective for joint pain (such as arthritis), sciatica, muscle spasms, and pain in the back, neck, and shoulders.  It also is very effective with chronic issues such as digestive and nervous tension.
